Thinking Styles, Who recognises themselves?
October 24, 2016
Who can relate?. Now i know i have my fair share of automatic thinking. I can jump to conclusions as easily as the next person, without even realising that's what it is. How many of you have catastrophic thinking the minute something doesn't go according to the mental plans we give ourselves? How many times has your child, partner been late in and before you're even aware it must mean"something horrible" must have happened.. or that friend you sent a text to 10 minutes ago hasn't returned with an answer. The "OMG" moments and the presumption of that must mean they aren't talking to me " what have i done wrong" suddenly take over.. Really? The majority of the time it doesnt mean that at all. We are programmed to have any number of these thinking styles, and for many of us they don't affect our everyday life. But for those who hang onto their negative thoughts to the degree that it takes over and prevents them functioning to the best of their ability it it a serious issue. the link below gives some idea of how to stop overthinking.
